A lot can change in 3 years. New tech emerges, new fashion houses become the must have brand and even more shopping events spring up. First life also has its changes, most notably for me health changes that have made a big impact on how much time I can devote to Second Life.
I recently had my first host shift at a club and I had a great time! I did really well, remembered the process and had a lot of fun doing it. I did make a mental note to look for a decent translator since everyone speaks Spanish and I’m a pleb who can only speak Australian – I mean English.
After my shift ended they needed a cover and since I was being polite and was still there I said I could fill in. Unfortunately, I was exhausted from all that socialising and I fell asleep, at my desk, head face planted just below my keyboard. While it’s a pretty funny image, it definitely made me aware of my limitations.
You see in 2021 I had a bit of a health malfunction. My too-young-for-this-shit-self was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, heart failure. I had a pretty close brush with the rainbow bridge but somehow managed to stay on this side of it. Honestly, I didn’t think it had affected me too much. I mean other than fluid restrictions and being a little more tired than usual. Lately, however, I’ve started to notice just how many aspects of my life it has impacted – Second Life included.
While I know that I am no less important or useful than I once was, I do feel the lack of ability keenly. I still feel like I’m not good enough, especially now. It’s all change and as much as I hate it I know that I will adapt to it, eventually. For now, allow me a moment to process it and to mourn what was so I can make room for what will be.
To ponder all of these things I spent some time at Wandering New York 2. I strutted my stuff around the sim, posed in some interesting places and just generally made a fool of myself taking selfies every few steps! However, I think I got some great photos as you can see below.
